Built in 1885, it is a fine traditional four-storey Victorian building with beautiful and elegant décor. It has a grand entrance with an elegant reception hall and a restaurant with access to a pleasant terrace. The terrace overlooks private tennis courts.
The restaurant hall with the terrace is suitable for 80 seated or 120 for a reception. There are 24 other rooms of various sizes, suitable for two to 12 people.
When this building was occupied by a private family, it was also used for chamber concerts, attracting well-known musicians like Ravel, who performed here in 1911. During 1950s and 60s, this building was occupied by the Royal Academy of Dancing, with Dame Margot Fonteyn as patron.
Since then the building has been occupied by The London School of English. Over the years, it has been subject to extensive development and renovation, always in keeping with its fine traditional design.
