Roslyn

The first thing you notice when entering Roselyn’s home is the warm and friendly feeling of her cosy house. As one of our experienced homestay hosts, she has opened her home and heart to many of our clients for over a decade. You can expect a bright smile, a cup of tea, and a lovely home where you are very welcome to make yourself at home during your stay.

Roslyn makes a cup of tea in her kitchen

Roslyn works from home as an interior design consultant and her many interests include sport, skiing, theatre, cinema, art galleries, socialising, reading and entertaining. She knows London very well and will be happy to tell you all about the amazing things the city has to offer. Roslyn really enjoys getting to know people from different countries and cultures and hearing about their lives. As a former English language teacher to foreign students, she also loves to see the progress her guests make with their English language skills during their stay.

Over breakfast and dinner I ask a lot of questions, as that seems to be the best way to get to know someone. From there, discussions seem to naturally occur about anything and everything.

Roselyn encourages her guests to note down new words as they appear because this helps them build their vocabulary. Staying in a homestay gives English learners a valuable opportunity to practise English with a native speaker and quickly progress and improve their communication skills, vocabulary and pronunciation.

Roslyn shares some of her happy memories of her guests

A lot of guests keep in touch with their homestay hosts for years after they have returned home. Over the years, Roslyn has collected many happy memories as a host, including a guest joining her family Christmas celebrations, a summer evening dinner at a riverside pub and being invited to the local curry house.

Studying at The London School of English and spending time in London is, for most students, a lifetime opportunity. I want students to make the very best of their time in London and to look back on their stay here as one of the best times in their lives!
